Limerick Leader focuses on Mobile Marketing

Interest in mobile marketing has increased thanks to a recent article published by Nick Rabbitt in the business section of the Limerick Leader. uConnect has been up and running in its present form for a month or two and we are already getting a positive reaction from SME's who are realising the significant cost benefit and advantage that text message marketing has to offer over traditional advertising.

A Limerick start-up firm has launched a new web-based text messaging service to allow businesses to cut their marketing and communication costs. uMobilize Promotions, which operates from the National Technology Park in Plassey, has launched a new product, named uConnect.

Easy-to-use

An easy-to-use, internet based mobile marketing service, it aims to help businesses access the mobile channel to create eye-catching marketing and business communications. Upon signing up for the product, businesses can upload lists of customers' mobile phone numbers, divide them into relevant groups, based on location, gender and purchasing habits for example, and send bulk, low-cost SMS messages to these contacts in seconds - and at a fraction of the price.

Customers can buy SMS credit at less than regular SMS messages and send messages to customers from a web portal, or a mobile phone. They can also register a keyword which they can then advertise in-store or on their promotional literature to automatically build up their list of mobile contacts. Speaking to Business Limerick, co-founder of uMobilize Promotions, Philip Culbert said: "The recession has made all small business owners more conscious of their costs. At the same time, they are aware that promoting their business and service offerings is as vital as ever.

Flexible

When we founded the company our aim was to develop an easy-to-use, flexible service that would allow our clients communicate with their customers and contacts in a reliable, cost-effective manner. We felt mobile technology was the perfect way to do this. Client solutions manager/co-owner, Conor Heaney added: "To survive in this slow economy, we need to get economical and creative with how we reach our customers. Marketing to their mobile phone is a very personal and effective way to do this. With uConnect we wanted to give our customers a flexible and user-friendly promotional tool that can be used straight off the bat."
